Anyone with a mobility problem can access equipment from the Light and Life Centre in the Wharfside from Monday to Saturday (please check for hours of opening)Â

Six scooters are available for use within the town centre allowing access to shops, Penzance promenade and Morrab and Penlee Gardens for people with mobility problems. A small  boot scooter is now avalable for hire and can be hired for the week or more if required giving greater access to West Cornwall.

We welcome long term bookings for people on holiday or needing a scooter for longer than just one day. Â

And a team of dedicated volunteers will be on hand to assist members of the public in using the new scheme.

Go! Penzance’s manager Simon Jones said: “This is only the second scheme of its kind to be launched in Cornwall and will play a significant part in making Penzance accessible to all local people and visitors.”

Penwith District Council’s social inclusion officer, Anthony Newson, said: “Following the loss of disabled parking spaces in Market Jew Street during its regeneration, Penwith District Council was committed to working with the local community to find a solution.

“The public was consulted on possible projects to combat the loss.

“Shopmobility was identified as the best solution to enable anyone visiting the town with a mobility problem, the facility to access the shops or open spaces the town has to offer.

“Penwith District Council is delighted the scheme is now open and urges anyone with a mobility problem, whether young or old to utilise the scheme and enjoy the Go! Penzance experience.”
